Finding the Perfect Maternity Bathing Suits

With swimsuit season rapidly approaching and already here for many people in the warmer states, women are making mad dashes to multiple stores in order to find the perfect swimsuit. For women who are pregnant, this already frantic time of finding the perfect suit to compliment your body becomes a bit more complicated, or so it would seem. In actuality, the array of swimwear designed specifically for expectant mothers is vast and full of variety. With swimsuits tailored specifically for your changing body, maternity swimwear designers have ensured that you can easily find the right suit for your body and style. Know what to look for and you will be sure to find a comfortable yet incredibly stylish maternity swimsuit.

For expectant mothers who are ready to show some belly, a bikini is a fashionable yet comfy option. Bikinis are great, as they allow plenty of room for your baby bump to grow. You will never feel constricted or tightness on the belly. Bikinis provide sexiness while still being classy and functional. Belabumbum Maternity designs the Aqua Ring Maternity Bikini, a popular style this season, as it exemplifies the hot summer trend of the floral print. The adjustable tie halter top provides support and the ability to fit the suit specifically to your body. With stylish silver rings at the bust and hips, this is a fashionable yet functional option. The Jill Boy Bikini is another great bikini option. For women who want the unrestricted feeling of a bikini but prefer a bit more coverage on their bottom, the Jill’s boy shorts are perfect. Super stylish yet providing that extra bit of coverage, you will be sure to feel comfortable all day long. For expectant mothers looking to bare a bit of skin while maintaining their comfort and style, a bikini is definitely the way to go.

If a bikini is not quite right for you but you would still like to show a bit of your belly off, a tankini is a fantastic swimwear option. Maternity swimwear designers love the tankini, as it is functional yet fashionable. Designed with an emphasis on the empire waist and then gently flowing over your belly, the tankini is incredibly figure flattering. One of my personal favorites this season is the new Coco O-Ring Tankini from Maternal America which, with its beaded tie neckline and deep green shade, perfectly exemplifies the tribal/safari trend so popular this season. The adjustable necktie and side tie bottoms are great, as they allow you to fit the suit perfectly to your body.

Comfy yet stylish, you will look and feel great! Another tankini which is very popular this season is the Sweet Heart in Black from Prego Maternity. This swimsuit, with its sweetheart neckline and wider halter straps, has a cute retro look. The bust is incredibly supportive as it has an adjustable tie at the neck. Cute bottoms complete this stylish maternity swimsuit! Overall, a tankini allows you to have the feel of a bikini with a bit more coverage.

For those women looking for a stylish and sexy one-piece, there are several great maternity swimwear options. A one piece is a fantastic choice, as you will have great mobility and never worry about readjusting your suit. The One Piece Keyhole Swimsuit from Maternal America is sexy and stylish yet functional. The adjustable halter tie provides versatility while the keyhole design at the bust is very fashionable. With plenty of room in the belly to grow, you will want to wear this suit throughout your pregnancy! The Jade Empire Tank from Prego Maternity is another gorgeous one-piece option. Its beautiful rich color is eye-catching and incredibly flattering, as the jewel tone looks great against all skin types. With wide adjustable straps and an empire waist, the suit is both flattering and functional. Whether you are relaxing by the pool or swimming laps, this suit will keep you feeling and looking great! One-pieces create a sleek and streamlined look, while ensuring your comfort throughout the day.

Overall, finding the style that is right for you while shopping for maternity swimwear ensures you will be comfortable and feel beautiful throughout the summer. There are many options available for expectant mothers, from bikinis to one-pieces, and with a little searching you can find the perfect option for your personal fashion and lifestyle.

Diary of a Tall Fashionista – The Swimsuit Dilemma

Ok my tall sisters… I know the moment you read “swimsuit dilemma” you knew just where I was going with this. No matter what your shape or size, unless your name is Gisele, there is a dilemma when it comes to swimsuits. For us it’s the quandary of not being able to run into Target or TJ Maxx and run out with a flattering suit that fits our long torsos in all the right places. No…we try on suit after suit only to find that we are ridin’ dirty. No, I’m not referring to a Chamillionaire state of being, or the political diatribe of Reverend Jeremiah Wright. I’m referring to the unsightly swimsuit cutting into areas we would rather avoid drawing attention to as they ride up our tall frames. So what are some ways to avoid this dilemma? And what are the latest trends that suit (no pun intended) tall women with long torsos?

Well first, the most obvious is the bikini. The ’separates’ phenomenon has in fact been phenomenal! Not only does it mean you don’t have to enlist your husband or best friend to try to stretch that one piece out with you (as thrilling as that might be), it also means you can actually buy a top that fits your top and a bottom that fits your bottom…which are not always the same size [gasp!]. But there are only a handful of tall fashionistas who are blessed to be both tall and thin (and toned) enough to continue pulling off the bikini past their prime (this is another subject for another article, but to insert a style tip: muffin top looks no better in a bikini than it looks in a pair of extra low rise jeans).

The next option is a tankini. The tankini is more forgiving than the bikini, yet not as conservative as a one piece. It’s a great option for a tall woman with a long torso. I recently found an amazing “longer length” tankini from Alloy. Whether intentionally for tall women or not, it is a tall woman’s dream. It’s a bit more fun and flirty than a one piece, yet provides the same level of coverage without the ridin’ factor. In addition, the tankini separates the line of your body to make it appear more proportioned.

The most ideal option is a long torso swimsuit. The challenge is not only are they difficult to find, but they can also be extremely boring, conservative, and expensive. Well now there is a resource, Tall Clothing Mall, that brings tons of long torso swimsuits to one spot, saving you time in finding the unexpected, sexy, and inexpensive long torso suit (it does exist; I promise). When looking at long torso swimsuits, remember to pay attention to details such as the cut of the leg as well as the neckline. With this season’s trend of plunging necklines, it shouldn’t be as difficult to find variety. In addition to low necklines, high cut bottoms also will make your torso appear shorter. Now I am in no way intimating that we need to look shorter (that is simply blasphemous). I’m simply stating that shortening the torso will help us achieve balance.

Regardless of what trend you decide to embrace, make sure to do so with confidence. The fashion tips and tricks help, but nothing goes further in making you look your best than believing it yourself.

The Tankini: When Modesty Is Your Cup of Tea

Most of us believe that the one-piece swimsuit is passe. A visit to any Hawaiian beach will tell you that it’s no longer quite hip to wear a one-piece swimsuit — not because the style has become every bit boring but because it offers less convenience to the women wearing it. Imagine wearing a one-piece suit and wanting to take a pee. Obviously, in situations like this, you’d have to take off your entire swim wear before you can do ‘number one.’ In most ways, it resembles jumper suits that are now rarely seen worn by anyone.

The era of the one-piece swimsuit has been eclipsed by the tankini. The tankini, for those who haven’t seen a beach in his entire life, is a two-piece bikini with a tank top and a bikini bottom ensemble. For most ladies, the tankini is the perfect solution to the inconvenience of wearing one-piece swimsuits. These days, the tankini has become the epitome of the I-want-to-wear-a-bikini-but-I-don’t-want-to-show-off-everything female attitude. It sounds bizaare, since there isn’t much difference and the only thing you’re really hiding is the area underneath your breasts or your navel. But the women have spoken out: The tankini is the ultimate bikini for the modest but still very sexy women.

Since we’re talking tankinis, I’ve just made the latest foray to the online stores and came up with a handsome collection of my own stylish tankinis. I ranked them according to my favorites as well as by the random recommendation of my nosy friends. Victoria’s Secret has finally eased up on the tankini prices and is now selling them at 60% off. I’ve ranked the Very Sexy Push-up tankini from the “Beach Sexy” Collection as my number one choice (and most of my friends’) for the simple reason that it looks so sexy — period! We’re wearing bikinis and tankinis that flatter our shapes and skin color. The Push-up tankini from Victoria’s Secret is perfect for this job. Most shirred tankinis help make the bosom look more shapely and the push-up top that is laced around the neck makes it look like a very provocative halter top but slimmer on the edge. The deep coral prints make the whole piece altogether inviting.

My second choice from Victoria’s Secret tankini collection is the “Beach Sexy” Mesh cover-up tank. Sure, those who like to show off their pretty fannies won’t go for this look, but the plumper ladies who wish to hide their flabs will find wearing this item extremely rewarding. It even passes for a punk-summer look. The silhoutte denotes sexiness while the ruffles are fun to look at. The Miracle Bra Swimwear, featuring the Crochet push-up tankini, is sexy tankini as its simplest form. The straps are adjustable and it’s made of imported nylon or spandex. The crocheted appearance makes you think that it has taken time to stitch it and there’s real treasure underneath.

The Racerbank tankini by “Body by Victoria” Collection is a hit for those who live and breathe “beach”. It can be worn anytime, anywhere, and has a total summer appeal. It comes in floral prints as well as solids, note the bikini bottom, and on sale at $28. The “Beach Sexy” Collection is truly a bunch of tankini masterpieces, since it’s also where I found the Apron tankini — a deluge of batik patterns in a flirtatious arrangement that’s simply not boring to look at. It has an open back and laces at the neck and back. The Apron tankini (that looks like a more sophisticated camikini) pairs with a deliciously designed string bottom and is sold at $36.

The All American Bikini (http://www.allamericanbikini.com) sports a similar, but bolder, more diverse Fashion Tankinis Collection. Camikinis, skirted, tie-dyed, ruffled, piped, bandeau, sarong, slimming, tie-front, and halter tankinis are the best in the bunch. My criteria for picking the most attractive and flattering tankinis are based on how they enhance the body’s shape and skin tone, their durability, as well as their comfortability.

Now, whoever said that wearing bikinis had to be an all or nothing affair? With tankinis, you’re revealing your sexy side while still keeping things subtly hidden. And with the comfort it provides in wearing a two-piece swimsuit, the tankini, despite being a novel swimsuit fashion concept, is on its way to invading the beaches sooner than we expect.
