Finding the Perfect Maternity Bathing Suits

With swimsuit season rapidly approaching and already here for many people in the warmer states, women are making mad dashes to multiple stores in order to find the perfect swimsuit. For women who are pregnant, this already frantic time of finding the perfect suit to compliment your body becomes a bit more complicated, or so it would seem. In actuality, the array of swimwear designed specifically for expectant mothers is vast and full of variety. With swimsuits tailored specifically for your changing body, maternity swimwear designers have ensured that you can easily find the right suit for your body and style. Know what to look for and you will be sure to find a comfortable yet incredibly stylish maternity swimsuit.

For expectant mothers who are ready to show some belly, a bikini is a fashionable yet comfy option. Bikinis are great, as they allow plenty of room for your baby bump to grow. You will never feel constricted or tightness on the belly. Bikinis provide sexiness while still being classy and functional. Belabumbum Maternity designs the Aqua Ring Maternity Bikini, a popular style this season, as it exemplifies the hot summer trend of the floral print. The adjustable tie halter top provides support and the ability to fit the suit specifically to your body. With stylish silver rings at the bust and hips, this is a fashionable yet functional option. The Jill Boy Bikini is another great bikini option. For women who want the unrestricted feeling of a bikini but prefer a bit more coverage on their bottom, the Jill’s boy shorts are perfect. Super stylish yet providing that extra bit of coverage, you will be sure to feel comfortable all day long. For expectant mothers looking to bare a bit of skin while maintaining their comfort and style, a bikini is definitely the way to go.

If a bikini is not quite right for you but you would still like to show a bit of your belly off, a tankini is a fantastic swimwear option. Maternity swimwear designers love the tankini, as it is functional yet fashionable. Designed with an emphasis on the empire waist and then gently flowing over your belly, the tankini is incredibly figure flattering. One of my personal favorites this season is the new Coco O-Ring Tankini from Maternal America which, with its beaded tie neckline and deep green shade, perfectly exemplifies the tribal/safari trend so popular this season. The adjustable necktie and side tie bottoms are great, as they allow you to fit the suit perfectly to your body.

Comfy yet stylish, you will look and feel great! Another tankini which is very popular this season is the Sweet Heart in Black from Prego Maternity. This swimsuit, with its sweetheart neckline and wider halter straps, has a cute retro look. The bust is incredibly supportive as it has an adjustable tie at the neck. Cute bottoms complete this stylish maternity swimsuit! Overall, a tankini allows you to have the feel of a bikini with a bit more coverage.

For those women looking for a stylish and sexy one-piece, there are several great maternity swimwear options. A one piece is a fantastic choice, as you will have great mobility and never worry about readjusting your suit. The One Piece Keyhole Swimsuit from Maternal America is sexy and stylish yet functional. The adjustable halter tie provides versatility while the keyhole design at the bust is very fashionable. With plenty of room in the belly to grow, you will want to wear this suit throughout your pregnancy! The Jade Empire Tank from Prego Maternity is another gorgeous one-piece option. Its beautiful rich color is eye-catching and incredibly flattering, as the jewel tone looks great against all skin types. With wide adjustable straps and an empire waist, the suit is both flattering and functional. Whether you are relaxing by the pool or swimming laps, this suit will keep you feeling and looking great! One-pieces create a sleek and streamlined look, while ensuring your comfort throughout the day.

Overall, finding the style that is right for you while shopping for maternity swimwear ensures you will be comfortable and feel beautiful throughout the summer. There are many options available for expectant mothers, from bikinis to one-pieces, and with a little searching you can find the perfect option for your personal fashion and lifestyle.

Swimsuit Season – Hide Your Problem Areas

Problem One: Large Hips – Some women are up to two or even three sizes bigger on the bottom. This causes issues because swimwear is baggy in the bust and tight on the bottom. How should this be fixed? The answer is in the embellishments. Pick a small swimsuit with a ruffle on the top. Pick feminine embellishments to add interest on the top. This adds additional volume or detail creating balance to a figure. Stay away from boy shorts or larger bottoms, this style highlights the problem area.

Problem Two: A Shapeless Body – This shape is also known as a boy figure. Women who have this shape are sometimes more athletic with small hips and bust. You want to look like a female in your swimwear. For this body type less is more. Go for the small look. Also add patterns to your pick. It can be scary to chose a string style suit, but these suits highlight curves and are sexy. Patterns add interest to the parts they cover, and after all this is what swimwear is about. Flaunt your stuff! If you are fit it is what you worked for, so don’t be shy.

Problem Three: Small bust – All the size A and small size B women out there dread swim season. Fortunately there are many solutions to this issue. The first and most obvious is to pick a top with under-wire and some lift. Padding is a great alternative to push up, and is not as obvious. The additional padding also offers some privacy. Choose a solid color suit or mix and match. Avoid anything strapless. Strapless tends to cause emphasis to the straight nature of a small bust.

Buying a Swimsuit: A Guide for Women of all Shapes and Sizes

It is the time of the year that every woman dreads – Swimsuit season! No matter what size a women is, she probably panics over picking out a swimsuit and worries that it fits her figure well. Of course, every woman wants to accent her best features while minimizing her weak spots in any clothing, but this is especially true in swimsuits.

Swimsuits are so revealing, there is very little margin for error when trying to choose the right one. All women want a swimsuit that looks good on them, but if they are going to be spending a lot of time in the water over the summer, then comfort is also important. Here are a few tips and hints you can follow that will make your swimsuit shopping much less stressful.

Large Busts

Woman with large busts should find a swimsuit that fully supports them. The best swimsuits for that are ones with halter-tops or molded under wire cups to keep everything in place. A swimsuit with the additional strap across the back, along the bust line, also provides additional support. Women with an inverted shape (their top is wider than their hips), should choose a two-piece with a skort or shorts. This will help balance their top and bottom, making them look more proportional.

Large Hips and Thighs

A woman with a large rear end should look for swimsuits with boy cut bottoms. This helps hide your rear but also looks cute and is comfortable. The skirted bikini bottoms are also cute – giving a hint of your legs, but still hiding your rear end. Avoid the skimpy bikini briefs at all costs! For the top, you can also choose something that is catchy and brightly colored. This will draw attention upwards away from your rear end. Again, avoid horizontal stripes, as they will make your rear look even larger than it actually is, although diagonal stripes might create a more flattering illusion.

Curvy women should consider the tankini. The tankini is a two-piece swimsuit with a top that resembles a tank top. With it, you can pair the hipster bottoms. These cool looking bottoms provide far more support for your curves than the traditional bikini bottoms. You may also want to try on one of the one piece swimsuits with cutouts on the sides. This can have a slimming effect while still showing off your curves.

Larger Belly

If you have a large stomach, you should stick to a one-piece suit. However, if you really want a two-piece, look for one of the halter-tops that fall over the waist of your bikini bottoms. This not only hides your stomach, but also helps elongate your body, making you appear taller and thus slimmer. You may also want to check to see if the store has a swimsuit that offers tummy control. A printed suit will also take the focus away from your stomach and make you look slimmer.

Plus Size Swimsuits

Large women probably have the hardest time picking out a swimsuit. If you are overweight, you are probably self-conscious enough when choosing regular clothes, but do not let this discourage you from enjoying some fun in the sun. Stick to dark colors like navy blue and black to help make you look slimmer. Avoid a swimsuit with horizontal stripes, as that gives the optical illusion that you are wider than you actually are. Spandex is a good choice for swimsuit cloth because it stretches, but it is very important that you get the right size swimsuit. Do not try to squeeze into a swimsuit that is two sizes too small for vanity reasons. Picking the appropriate size will always look better on you. Many stores let you mix and match tops and bottoms, so if you are top heavy or bottom heavy, you can make sure you get the correct size for each section. Remember that swimsuits usually run smaller than regular clothes, so you may have to set a size or two larger than you normally wear.

The most important thing for you to know when purchasing a new swimsuit is to know what works best for your features. And, don’t purchase the first suit you try on unless you just really love it. Take several in the dressing room with you and see which one looks best. It may even help to take along a friend to give you an honest opinion of how it looks.

Maternity Swimwear and Cover-Ups For the Pool and Beach

Now June is here, we full fledge into swimsuit season and super hot weather. If you are expecting this is no time to shy away from all the fun at the pool or beach due to pregnancy. Many women are body conscious to begin with, regardless of their body type, and typically pregnancy can bring out that tendency in greater force. However, if you find a truly great maternity swimsuit along with an easy to wear cover-up for poolside lounging, there is nothing to keep you from the water or beach this summer.

Prego Maternity is a great brand to check out when swimsuit shopping. All of their styles are available on the web if you don’t have the time to go out to your local maternity store, or if you don’t care for the selection at your local stores. Many maternity boutiques do not stock a lot swimsuit styles and what is available can often go quickly, so your best bet may be to shop online. Make sure you do checkout the online store’s return policy as some stores only allow store credit or exchanges on returns and some do not allow any returns or exchanges on swimsuits.

Prego Maternity has many different maternity swimsuit styles available. For serious swimmers, checkout their one piece suits such as the Empire Tank which offers the maximum support with wide adjustable strap and a sleek overall design. For more recreational swimmers, the Texture Heart Suit is a good all around suit at a great price.

If you are looking for maximum coverage, consider the baby doll styles that come in both halter and tank strap designs. These styles allow full coverage of the belly, chest, hips and bottom in a flirty empire waist cut.

Other fun styles to consider are the halterkini, tankini and hipkini. All of these styles are different versions of 2 piece suits with belly coverage and bikini bottoms. They are all available in a variety of colors, patterns and ties. Some of these styles have adjustable tie bottoms which are good for women who are bigger on the bottom than the top or vice versa.

If you are all out daring and like to bare it all, take a look at Prego’s maternity bikinis which are really designed to stretch in just the right way for an expecting woman. If you would rather go for a more festive pattern, then Belabumbum’s mandarine or tangerine striped bikini have a fun beachy look.

Even if you have already had your baby and not ready to squeeze back into your former pre-pregnancy suit and especially if you are nursing your baby, there is the perfect suit for you. Belabumbum has come out with a nursing tankini that fits both maternity and postpartum with very discreet nursing access. This nursing swimwear is an adorable 2 piece suit that covers the belly with adjustable bra straps and bikini bottoms. This suit comes in hot pink and black. Many women buy this suit when they are pregnant for maximum before and after use.

When trying on swimsuits, don’t forget to think ahead as you will get bigger as your pregnancy progresses. As women, we are usually programmed by society to squeeze into the smallest suit possible that will suck in any unwanted layers and make us look as thin as possible. However, this approach is usually not the best, or healthiest for an expecting mom to be. If you are between sizes, it is usually best to order up. Also, look for suits that have a good percentage of lyra for extra stretch as you grow, close to 20% is a good guide. Also remember when you wash your suit only machine wash on gentle cycle in cold water and DO NOT put your suit in the dryer or all that lycra will stretch out place and ruin your suit forever. Always drip dry your suit after washing and it should last you throughout your pregnancy.

If you are looking for a little more modesty at the pool or beach, take a look at Maternal America’s Swimsuit Cover-ups and Tunics. These cover-ups come in both a short tie back style with a deep V neck and a longer featherweight tunic style with a scoop neck. Both styles are available in white or black and can be worn with other clothing too for a different look. Also, if you are just looking to cover up the lower half, take a look at Maternal America’s Maternity Board Shorts which are perfect for layering under a swimsuit or wearing casual with a tank or halter top.

So whether you are looking to swim some serious laps this summer or you just want to join in on the fun at the beach or pool, go ahead and invest in a maternity swimsuit and cover-up that works for your personal style and body type. Have fun in the sun and water this summer!

Burning Belly Fat in Time For Swimsuit Season

Summer is closing in, and with that the familiar routine, which often starts in panic and ends in frustration. Do you want to know how you can end this crazy diet cycle once and for all, without drastic measures?

Have you ever noticed how the onset of summer changes people? There’s a mix of emotions in the air. Pleasing thoughts of vacation time, lazing by the pool or beach can so easily mix with the dread of being seen in a swimsuit. You can only guess at how few people are happy in their swimsuits and it’s easy to imagine that those who are model them!

So, what’s the most common reaction to the onset of summer- probably an alarm ringing in your head, letting you know it’s time to go through that annual ritual, yet again. It’s time to find a way to shift all the body issues you have, in the shortest time possible, for those precious weeks of sun and sea.

Yes, it’s diet time- scrambling around for a ‘just in time’ solution. Flicking through magazines to see how the celebrities are doing it or maybe trying to find a new wonder supplement that’ll allow you to breathe a sigh of relief. Have we all forgotten that vacation is supposed to be a time to relax and recharge- we need it after the ordeal of getting ready!

Do the diets, plans and programs ever work the way you want them to? Or, are they a constant source of disappointment, where you vow, with each new year, not to repeat the same mistake again? (Or, at least, remember not to try the same solution again).

What If There Was Another Way?

What if I told you there was a way to leave all this behind? The fad diets, the endless frustration and the feeling that you are competing with the impossible when you flick through the crazy programs of the celebrities and ex-models.

Now, let’s be clear about this- I’m not talking about some new supplement or yet another new plan. I’m not even talking about a gym program that takes hours to complete. And there are no miracles in weight loss- I didn’t lose my weight from some amazing new contraption or focusing on a single food type. I did it through approaching health, fitness and weight control as a complete lifestyle.

I’m talking about:
Good, healthy and balanced food, without giving up all your favorite treats. Energizing and results driven exercise- that doesn’t take forever to complete and fits busy lives. Treating the body right and resting between workouts, as well as getting lots of sleep.

If you get these things right you can say goodbye to fad diets and programs, because the healthy lifestyle approach works and weight stays off, which means no more summer stress and bikini panic. Nothing boosts confidence like an overall sense of wellbeing and satisfaction. And when you feel good all the time, you’ll be ready for the beach all the time.

Imagine being so body confident that you’ll happily wear a swimsuit anytime. Remember, however, that I won’t take any responsibility for the odd looks from wearing a swimsuit to the grocery store!

Plus Size Swimwear

So, we all know that woman who loves her body.

Which Swimsuit is Right For Your Body Shape?

Accentuate Your Best Features with the Right Swimwear Choice

You probably know your shape better than anyone else, and you’re probably aware of your favorite and least favorite parts. Swimsuit season can be intimidating to many women, who fear that they “just don’t look good” in a swimsuit. Today’s swimwear options make it much easier for all women to build confidence and look great on the beach-with a little advice. Match these body types with some swimwear suggestions that will help you feel comfortable in a bathing suit that’s “suited” for your shape.

Small Chest or Bust

If you’ve got a small bust, opting for two pieces is probably your best bet. Try a halter top tankini that can give even a size A chest some cleavage. Make sure that the top fits correctly, and isn’t too loose (the number one way to make your chest look smaller). If possible, try getting different size top and bottoms to fit, like a “mix n match” style. Ruffles, extra fabric and adjustable straps are small-chested women’s best friends! If you prefer a one-piece swimsuit look, avoid strapless one-piece swimsuits. Thin, spaghetti straps will look cute on you!

Large Bust or Heavy on Top

If you want some cleavage, halter top bikinis or tankinis offer support and cleavage, as well as the ability to adjust size with a tie-neck option. Underwire, banded midriffs, soft foam cups or built-in-bras are a must with any one or two piece swimwear option. If possible, order the top one size larger than the bottom. One-piece swimsuit options can also include “tank” style suits with wide shoulder straps. Avoid anything that has minimal coverage, such as bandeau bikini tops.

Short Torso and/or Short Legs

You can actually lengthen the look of your legs by finding a swimsuit that is cut high on the legs. One piece swimsuits often have “high thigh” bikini cuts or a V-Shaped plunging neckline are a great fit for your shape. Try a string bikini if you’re set on a two-piece bathing suit, which will lengthen your legs by revealing your hips. If possible, avoid boy shorts. Color-wise, you can wear a solid colored bottom with a printed or vertically-striped swimsuit top, which will draw the eyes toward your torso, giving it a longer look.

Long Torso/Tall and Thin

To avoid the “bean pole” look, go crazy with embellishments, horizontal stripes, super bright neon colors, and even hip belts that break up your tall, thin figure. If you’re tall and think without curves, try a one-piece swimsuit with an embellished waist, or extra fabric and ruffles on a skirtini swimsuit. Try to avoid solid colors without any print, detail, or embellishments.

Broad Shoulders

Play up your bottom half and avoid drawing attention to the top if you’ve got an “inverted triangle” shape. Choose bikini bottoms splashed with lots of colors and print patterns and don’t be stingy when it comes to embellishments such as ties, belts and sashes. Wide shoulder straps, square necklines, and modern low-rise thigh cuts can make you look fabulous. Try to avoid the plunging V-neck that will only highlight the shape you’re trying to soften.

Tummy Troubles or Scars & Stretchmarks

If you are self conscious about your tummy, try a one-piece swimsuit, or a “mock” two-piece. Many one-piece swimsuits today actually look like two-piece tanikinis or skirtinis, but they offer total midriff coverage. Swimdresses often also do the job of covering a tummy, with style. Try a print rather than a solid color to distract from too much tummy. Most women who have scars or stretchmarks tend to have them on their thighs, breasts, or bellies. The best swimwear option might be a long swimwdress, or a swimsuit with optional coverup. Boyshorts bottoms can help you cover stretchmarks on your buttocks or hips, if you’ve got them.

Curvy Bottom or Plus-Size

If you’re curvy on the bottom, the skirtini is for you! Try choosing a smooth, slimming skirtini skirt (short or mini is OK) that covers just want you want it to. If you want ruffles or an extra fabric look, choose a skirted bikini with a ruffled bikini top that will draw attention to your bust rather than your hips and buttocks. The comeback of the super cute, one-piece swimdress is a great trend for plus-size women. Swimdresses offer coverage in the places where most plus-size women are seeking modesty, but swimdresses are often constructed with stylish, sexy fashion in mind as well. Deep V-necks can accentuate cleavage, and ruching at the hip can offer a fashionable distraction as well as lengthen your thighs.

You Don’t Need to Lose Weight to Look Great In a Swimsuit

Swimsuit season. Those two little words can strike terror into the heart of the bravest, most competent American woman. However, if approached correctly swimsuit season can be significantly less traumatic this year.

Never, under any circumstances, try on swimsuits at the store. Store mirrors and lighting can be far too unflattering for your delicate psyche. Pick out a couple of suits, at least one in a size larger than you think you wear, buy them and take them home to try on. Yes, this will involve returning at least one of them, but you will feel so much better about yourself. If you’ve ever had the experience of trying on several suits, all of which “made you look fat” and leaving the store in tears, you’ll appreciate the comfort of your home even more.

On your way home, stop by a Target, K-Mart or Wal-Mart. You are about to make the best purchase of your life! For around $20 you can buy a mirror that measures about 12 inches wide by abut 48 inches tall. It is meant to be adhered to a wall or door. Do not adhere it. Lean it against a wall of the room in which you will be trying on your swimsuits. Make sure that the bottom of the mirror is at least 12 inches away from the wall; it’s tilting backwards. A mirror tipped in that fashion will make you look long and slim. Then, and only then, are you ready to try on your suits.

It is said that “your perception determines your reality.” What the mirror does is help you shift your perception/reality.

Research has shown that most women “see” themselves as heavier than they really are. All we’re doing now is readjusting your “sight” to one that may be more reality based.
