Dress Etiquette: What to Wear

People like to dress appropriately for an event, be it a dinner out with friends or an important wedding. But host and hostesses should be clear when issuing invitations what the desired dress is. I’ve received many ambiguous related invitations over the years and wanted to help others dicipher the vague dress-requests they might receive.

-If you’re not sure how to dress, over dress for an event. Many people interrupt dressing for an event. You’ll feel less obvious if you over -dress.

-Formal. Black tie (tuxedo) for men, floor length gowns for women.

-Black tie preferred, optional or invited. Tuxedo is the preferred choice for men, if the man does wear a tux then the women should be in a formal floor length gown. However if the man does not wear a tux, he will wear a dark suit, white shirt and conservative tie. A women in this case will wear a short dinner gown or an evening suit, a skirt with matching jacket.

-Dressy casual. Dress pants with matching jackets but no tie for men and dresses or dark pantsuits for women.

-Business casual. Pressed dress pants or khaki twills with a collared shirt, but no tie. Never wear jeans to a business casual event. Socks and belts required for men. Women can wear pants or skirts with hose and a collared shirt. No flip-flops.

-Casual. Typically anything goes, but if you have never been with the host or hostess and it says casual, it’s better to over-dress until you have a better understanding of how they define casual.

Swimsuits to Flatter Your figure

Are you sick and tired of your daggy, frumpy swimsuit? Do you want to look stunning and feel positive at the beach this Summer?

The secret to looking sensational and feeling confident in your swimsuit is to enhance and play up your good features, whilst minimising or covering up your problem areas.

Body Shapes and Swimsuit Solutions

Larger Bust

Enhance – Your bottom and legs with bright colours/prints and a medium to high cut leg on your pants.

Minimise – Your bust with a solid colour Tankini Top. Some swimsuits now have built in bras which offer good support, or look for wider shoulder straps.

Avoid – Mini bottoms and plunging neck lines.

Pear Shape

Enhance – Your bust and the top part of your body with a halter top, a high necked suit or interesting patterns and details.

Minimise – your bottom and hips with solid colour pants.

Avoid – high cut legs as they will emphasize your bottom and hips.

Flat Chested

Enhance – your bottom with a string bikini or interesting detail on your bikini pants.

Minimise – your small bust by keeping the same pattern/colour for both your top and bottom. A triangle shaped bikini top, ruching or details on your bikini top will give the illusion of a larger breast. Or go for a padded bikini top.

Avoid – Horizontal stripes, they make you look flatter.

Sporty Figure

Enhance – your fit body with a two piece suit in a strong bright colour. Or go tomboy style with a short style fitted singlet top and cute boy leg pants.

Minimise – your lack of curves with interesting patterns or detail on your swimsuit.

Avoid – Solid coloured shapeless tank tops, and vertical stripes.

Solutions to other Problem Areas:

Short Legs – try spaghetti style bikini bottoms or high cut leg styles they will make your legs appear longer.

Flabby Tummy – try a dark coloured tankini top, worn with roll top high waisted pants, these will give your tummy support.

No Hips – try patterned pants or pants with interesting details, this will give the illusion of curves and give you some shape.

Broad Shoulders – try a square neckline with wider shoulder straps this will help to make them look narrower.

Round Bottom – try baggy boy leg board shorts, wear them with a fitted lycra singlet, this will balance everything out and give you confidence.

Are You Wearing the Most Flattering Swimsuit For Your Body Type?

Most women enjoy shopping … except if it’s for a new swimsuit. Shopping for swimwear can be frustrating unless you have a Barbie-like figure. Don’t be discouraged! A flattering swimsuit does exist!

Nearly every woman fits into one of five body types. Knowing your body’s shape will make it fun and easy to become well-suited.

Inverted Triangle Shape:
The inverted triangle shape has shoulders broader than the waistline and hips. For a figure-flattering fit, choose a swimsuit with a high-cut neckline or halter-style top. The high-cut neckline will minimize your shoulders, and emphasize your sexy bottom. Halter-style tops have a slimming effect on broader shoulders. Try a suit that draws the eye toward those slim hips and that tight tush.

Triangle Shape:
The triangle body type has a wider waistline than shoulders, with rounded hips and bottom. One-piece boatneck, racerback and tummy-control swimsuits visibly create the illusion of broader shoulders for a more-balanced figure. If you prefer a two-piece suit, halter-style tops with darker bottoms are a great choice. Try a skirtini (combination bikini bottom with an attached skirt) to conceal and divert attention away from a too-round bottom – let’s keep the attention on that beautiful face of yours!

Athletic Shape:
The athletic shape is long and lean (you foxy thing!) with the same width at the shoulders, waistline and hips. To produce curves and give the appearance of a waist, you’ll want a swimsuit that creates the look of a defined waistline. Try a belted bottom.

Hourglass Shape:
The hourglass shape is considered to be the perfect body shape – hear that? You’re perfect. Hips and shoulders are balanced with a defined waistline. You can wear any style of swimsuit! Try something that will show off your feminine curves. Ooh, dangerous curves ahead!

Apple Shape:
The apple body shape usually has a fuller bust and a less-defined waistline, with more narrow shoulders and thighs. Choose a swimsuit that draws attention away from the midriff and tummy area – and flatters your slim thighs and sexy shoulders. Try one-piece suits or tankinis with a dark-colored, solid lower half and a printed top. For extra tummy camouflaging, try a suit that has ruching, or gathering at the waist.

Small Bust:
Enhance a small chest with a lightly padded halter top or a demi cut with an underwire. Also, try suits that offer texture, like ruffles or smocking. Hey you – YOU’RE HOT!

Large Bust:
Make sure you get a suit that will support the girls! Look for a top that has a soft cup bra lining or an underwire bra. Banded halter tops offer great support. Minimize a full chest with a dark, monochromatic bodice that has a high or square-cut neck, or try crossover styling.

Legs & Shoulders:
If you have toned legs and sexy shoulders, flaunt them in a string bikini, bandeau top, or a sexy monokini – meeeeow! You’ll set the beach on fire in this style!

Once you figure out which body shape you have, it’s easy to find a swimsuit to flatter your figure. Visit http://www.wellsuitedswimwear.com to see the suits that are recommended for your body type. Tips for Making Your Swimsuits Last Longer

Summer is nearly here and we will be spending more time wearing swimsuits and some of the newer performance fabrics.

The following guidelines will help you keep your swimsuits in a great shape but accept the fact that swimsuits have a short lifespan. More so if you swim in chlorinated water and spend long hours in hot tubs.
However the following tips will help you maintain your swimsuits nice and fit for a longer time.

1–To slow down the fading of color soak your swimsuit in a mixture of vinegar and water for about half an hour. Use one spoon vinegar and one quart of water.

2–If the swimsuit is already saturated with clean water then it absorbs less chlorinated water, so shower with fresh water before you move into the pool.

3–After you finish the swimming pool fun do wash your swimsuit with cool water and rinse a little.

4–Use of a suit cleaner will extend the life of your swimsuit.

5–Wash your swimsuits and rinse in cool water. Roll up in a clean, lint free, and light-colored or fade resistant towel and squeeze again.

6–Air-dry and not sun dry.

7–Do not machine-wash your swimsuit.

8–Do not bleach, iron or wash with white clothes.

9–Do not leave rolled up in wet towels or in gym bag. Moisture left in your suit for extended periods of time will lead to unwanted odor and suit failure.

10–Wear only your oldest suit in a hot tub or Jacuzzi

11–Clean regularly as needed, treat stains quickly and use a fabric softener only if recommended.

There is now available sun protective clothing, which provides the maximum available protection from the sun’s ultra-violet rays.

A few companies offers a wide selection of the highest quality, hard-to-find sun protection items for infants through 12 year olds.

How to remove stains.

If it’s a blood stain then soak it in cold water for 30 minutes.

If it’s a chewing gum then apply ice cubes or cold water

For fresh diary products use cool water. Older ones require removal of crusts.

Swimsuit Cover Ups – Look Your Best at the Pool or Beach

Swimming at the pool or beach is a great way to relax. But you also want to look your best whether swimming, sun bathing, or walking to your room. You want a great looking swim suit, but don’t forget a great looking cover up. There are many different types of swimsuit cover ups. So no matter what your body type, you can always look good.

Oversized shirt – You can choose either opaque material or sheer material in many different colors.

Sarong – Cover only the bottom part of your body with a short or long sarong. They come in many different colors, and some even come with beading detail.

Dress – Choose either sleeveless or one with sleeves in cotton fabric. Either a solid fabric or a tropical flower print works well.

Skirt – Short, flirty skirts are very fashionable.

Shorts – A great, practical way to cover up.

Robe – A terry cloth robe is very comfy and always practical. The shorter variety works best on the beach or at the pool.

T-shirt – An oversized t-shirt always works as a last minute option. They are also usually the least expensive type of cover up.

Choose one of the options above, and you’ll be ready for a great time at the beach or pool.

Swimsuit Bikinis For Pregnant Women – Should You Show Your Bump Or Hide It?

During swimsuit and bikini season, it used to be that some pregnant women would wear one-piece suits to cover their bump, and sometimes other women would choose a loose and flowing top that resembled a cape with straps. Each suit was designed to hide the pregnant woman’s tummy. But all that has changed now in the world of maternity fashions which reflects women’s preferences for swimwear apparel.

Perhaps the bikini trend for pregnant women started in Hollywood when famous actresses wanted everyone to see their baby bump, rather than hide their growing bodies under yards and yards of fabric.

Nevertheless, regardless of the season or location, pregnant women around the world are proudly showing off their tummies in public when they choose to wear bikinis. This new trend is also noticeable in everyday clothing, since many women just put on their designer elastic-waist sweat pants with a halter top or long clinging T-shirt.

The only guidelines for pregnant women wearing regular swimsuit bikinis are:

1. Make sure that you can buy tops and bottoms separately.

2. Buy a top that accommodates your enlarged bust line due to your pregnancy.

3. Choose a stretchy fabric for the bikini bottoms. Even though the bottoms will fit comfortably below your bump, the stretchiness will help your bottoms stay up better than if you were wearing a natural fabric, or one with ties at the sides.

4. Make sure you can stretch and flex your body easily while wearing the bikini, so that it doesn’t feel too tight on your body.

5. You also might want to forego the thong until after the baby is born. Choose a bikini bottom that partially or fully covers your bottom, which will make the front section of the bikini bottom feel less binding.

Mix ‘n match bikinis are very popular with pregnant women. Ladies can choose from many different colors, designs, styles, and sizes, while knowing that each bikini piece will fit a woman’s body the way she feels most comfortable, regardless if one piece is two sizes larger than the other piece. That’s the beauty of this new trend; buy separate tops and bottoms in any size you choose.

Bikinis that a pregnant woman can wear are available online through the Internet as well as in retail stores worldwide.

One final caution, no matter where you buy your bikini, find out what the store’s return and exchange policies are before paying for your swimsuit. Some stores honor returns and require that you pay for the return shipping, but other stores allow you only to exchange one suit for another one. Make sure you understand the store’s return policy.

These recent trends in swimwear make pregnant girls and women feel special. Looking good when you’re pregnant is a morale-booster. Therefore, since the latest maternity swimwear shows off a woman’s baby bump with pride, you can feel confident about buying and wearing a two-piece swimsuit bikini when you’re pregnant.

Guide To Buying The Best Swimsuit According To Your Body Type

Today the options are varied when you step out to buy swimwear. There is a large variety available in shades, prints, designs that you end up being confused. The rule of thumb is comfort first with fashion and trends featuring second in the list of priorities. Very often women tend to be so impressed by models with well toned bodies that they try to squeeze themselves into an ill fitted swimwear to imitate them. This makes them uncomfortable and the sense of low esteem speaks aloud from their persona. Every individual is uniquely gifted and must respect one’s own individuality. For designer fashion swimwear from most renowned designers including Gottex, Anne Cole, Ralph Lauren, Vix, Juicy, DKNY and many more, Swimsale.com is one stop shop.

Feel good to look good is the latest buzzword. If your swimwear is comfortable enough, the confidence will definitely sparkle in your eyes and everyone you meet will be attracted to you. There’s no single size that fits all owing to the different physical stature and shape of different individuals. You can be your best critic or seek a friend’s help while selecting a swimwear that gels well with your personality. The best swim suit is the one that flaunts your finer points while concealing the not so great ones. Check out our sure shot guide which will ensure a smooth sailing while settling on swimwear:

Halter-tops or molded under wire cups are suitable for those with full bust

Woman with full breasts should look for a swimsuit that supports them nicely. One alternative is to wear a bathing suit or two-piece that sports one color on the top and another on the bottom. The most suitable swimsuits will be the ones with halter-tops or molded under wire cups to keep everything in place. An additional strap across the back, along the bust line for additional support is also a great idea. This will give them a more proportionate look.

However, if you have a small bust area, go for a padded bikini top and try enhancing your bottom area with nicely detailed bottoms. Use same pattern for top and bottoms.

Boy cut bottoms for those with fuller bottom

Boy cut bottoms will minimize the large hips and give an illusion of proportionate rear end. Apart from being comfortable, they look really cute. Avoid the revealing bottoms that will make you uncomfortable. Bright colors for the top are a nice treat for the eyes. That will help in drawing attention from your rear end. Diagonal prints will do the job for you.

Wear one piece swimsuits to hide a large tummy

For the ones with a large belly, one piece suit is the way to go to create a just right kind of impression. Printed swimwear takes away the focus from your belly and gives an optical illusion of a slimmer you. Halter suits too are a great bet in hiding your belly and creating an elongation effect.

Go for tankini if you have a curvy figure.

If you are curvy, a tankini swimsuit top with hipster bottoms would suit the best. Hipster bottoms won’t add to your curves and will be just right. One piece swimsuits with strategic cutouts on the sides might also fit well.

Pick a right plus size swimsuit to look sexy

With the right type of swimsuits full figured women can also look beautiful and sexy. Swim wear with horizontal stripes is a big no. Go in for swim suits that offer an option of mix and match so as to create an impression of well defined curves. As for the colors, do stick to dark shades that tend to create a slimmer look. One-piece bandeau will do wonders for a full figure. A hint of sexiness with the semi exposed upper part of the body will make heads turn at the beach or by a pool side.

With a wide variety of swimwear styles available at http://www.swimsale.com/ , you can now look sexy and glamorous yet comfortable while taking a plunge into the pool or by the beach side. Swimsuit Care – Keep Your Swimwear Looking Great

You found the perfect swimsuit and you wear it at the beach. After a few weeks the bright colors fade, the material is a bit looser around your body, and the fabric forms piles, those tiny ball-shaped pieces of fluff characteristic of an older suit. Where did everything go wrong? How can you make your bathing suit last?

A little care will go a long way. The main culprits are chlorine, salt, the sun, hot tubs, and suntan lotions. Lycra, the material that allows the great stretch and comfort in your suit, is a fragile material. Chlorine and chemicals easily wear it down, and abrasive surfaces tear the fabric. Hot water permanently stretches the elastic, and dryer sheets, detergent and washing machines will finally destroy it. Most of these elements you can not avoid, but some care will help prolong the life of your swimsuit.

Never machine wash your suit – Hand wash the fabric with a gentle soap like Zero, and hang it to dry. Never use a dryer or an iron.

Heat is bad – If your suit is wet, the heat from the sun will fade the colors and loosen the elasticity. If you enter a hot tub, wear an older suit.

After a swim, rinse – Whether in an ocean, swimming pool or hot tub, salt, chlorine, and bromine will eat away at the fabric. Rinsing yourself with cool or lukewarm tap water will wash away a lot of the harmful minerals and chemicals. To dry with the suit still on, lay in a shaded area. Otherwise, hang it to dry in the shade.

Don’t wrap your swimsuit in your towel after swimming – Your towel will contain all the chemicals you tried rinsing off your suit. Worse, if everything is in a closed bag in the sun, the towel will heat up, the worst combination possible.

Bring two swimsuits – Wait 24 hours for your first one to dry. It will form back into its original shape. Wearing the same suit the next day will prevent the fabric from doing this.

Careful where you sit – Pool edges and decks are rough on the fabric, even if it feels smooth. Place a towel underneath before sitting.

Tanning – Tan before you swim. That way your suit remains dry, so the sun won’t cause as much damage to the material. If you prefer swimming first, change into an alternate, dry suit to sunbathe with.

Higher-end swimwear

Today, there are higher end suits that are chemical-resistant and made with stronger fabric. Some chlorine-proof suits have the disadvantage of being made of a high percentage polyester, a fiber much stronger than Lycra but not nearly as elastic and comfortable. The trade-off might not be to your advantage.

A great alternative is a variety of microfiber beachwear on the market. These suits are constructed with far stronger, advanced materials or a stronger manufactured weave of polyester and spandex. For instance, tan through bathing suits can be fully machine-washed, are chlorine and salt-resistant, and dry quickly.

While no suit will last forever, the proper care will keep the colors vibrant and the shape perfectly form fitting though the entire season, instead of a single month. And this will definitely keep you smiling at the beach.

Figure Smart Swimwear – Get the Right Swimsuit, Bikini For Your Body Type

Before we get into details, there are a couple myths that need to be cleared up:

1) You need to be tiny to wear a bikini-Wrong- you need to be properly proportioned for the bikini style that you choose.

2) Larger women should not wear revealing swimwear- Wrong again-Just because a women’s figure is structurally larger, for a better term bigger boned does not mean she should not wear a bikini. There are many models in this world that are stunning yet are larger women.

3) Everyone has different tastes and is attracted to a different look. There is someone for everyone in this world and I can assure you, that someone will be looking at you in your new swimsuit. Just keep in mind, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, You Are Beautiful

So the correct answer is-Wear a swimsuit that suits your figure and body style. Now You Can Read On

Smaller Bust Line

Clean lines, no pinching and flowing. These are the key attributes you are looking for when buying swimwear. Believe it or not, it is much easier to buy a bikini and look good in it, if your bust line is smaller. You do not have to deal with the control or weight that comes with larger bust sizes.

To add the appearance of fullness to a smaller bust line, you can use padding that fits comfortably in the bottom of the breast cup. These pads will push your breasts up, and give an appearance of a fuller bust line. A ruffled top can add more volume. If you still feel uncomfortable, prints will also keep the eye busy and draw attention away from your bust line. Finally color-color is key-if you mix and match, a dark colored bottom and a bright colored top will give the appearance of clean lines and a sporty look.

Larger Bust Line

With a larger bust line, spilling over the seams of your swimsuit top is your worst enemy, at all costs make sure your swimsuit fits properly with proper coverage and control. Remember you have a larger bust line, use it to your advantage, purchase swimwear that has a built in bra, shelf bra or underwire support. Swimwear straps should be wider for women with a larger bust line, string tops will dig in and be extremely uncomfortable. These tips will give you extra support and keep things where they belong. You will gain a great deal of comfort and control by following these simple steps

Tummy Concerns

Before we proceed we need to define tummy concerns.

A small tummy can actually be considered sexy, that kind of smooth yet contoured look. Many curvy women would look simply stunning in a bikini, yet choose to cover themselves up. So you need to define what kind of tummy you have. The best approach here is to get a second opinion. Ask a good friend for their opinion.

Depending on your size, you can purchase bikinis that have higher waste lines and waste bands to help control your waistline. These bikinis are simply beautiful with clean lines, flowing colors and great support.

If you feel uncomfortable wearing a bikini, choosing a plunging halter may be the answer. It draws attention to the suit and not so much your figure. Tankini’s offer firm control but keep in mind that you need to purchase the right size. You do not want bulges below the lower hemline. Purchase the next size up if you are concerned. A swimsuit that has a pattern across the mid section will also draw attention away from your tummy. Finally you can purchase absolutely gorgeous one piece swimsuits that have body control. These suits are amazing. They keep everything firmly in place yet, give you freedom, comfort and confidence.

Thick Strong Thighs

Who said that strong thick thighs were a problem? Swimsuits with high cut thighs were designed just for you. Don’t kid yourself, you will likely look incredible in a high cut one piece or Brazilian style swimsuit. Again use colors to your advantage, dark on the bottom, bright on the top.

Some final notes:

Every women is beautiful

There is a perfect swimsuit for your body type

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder- that eye may be on you at any given time

Use the information above to your advantage and take the time to find the perfect swimsuit for you

Last But Not Least-One Word- CONFIDENCE -Nothing is more beautiful and attracts more attention than confidence. Make sure that you purchase a swimsuit or bikini that you feel confident and comfortable wearing.
